WHO: Anaxa and anyone else awake to witness this
WHERE: Zodiac
WHEN: approx. 4:30 in the morning, mid-March
WHAT: the professor is doing science
WARNINGS: he’s eating dirt does that count
[ Professor Anaxa does not, in any way, realize that he’s broadcasting his late-night science experiments to the network. He likely intended to record this session for the purposes of referring back to it later, as one must when conducting such vital research as this.
Since growing accustomed to the city, and its now-native dromas population, he’s begun to worry about their health. Are they eating properly? Is the soil around them providing all of the nutrients that they need to flourish? Is the young calf among the herd getting what she needs to build the necessary muscultition, spiracuity, and charisplendor to grow into a fine young adult? Anaxa has decided that he simply must find out. Which leads him and any of his (un)fortunate bystanders to this:
Anaxagoras is taste-testing the dirt.
It’s the obvious route forward, he believes. He’s collected clean, untouched samples of soil from several areas around the park where the dromas herd has taken residence. On the surface, each one seems fine enough—one of them even takes a similar red hue to the redsoil they would so happily eat in Amphoreus. But the only way to know if it’s really what they need is to cross-check and compare it to what he recalls of his notes studying the stuff back home—which is quite a lot, thank you, his memory is fantastically keen. And indeed, he’s written several pages already over a few samples that have already been set to the side. And… spilled on the floor. It’s fine. He’ll get to it. Eventually.
At present, he’s testing a bit of one of his smaller samples of red soil (not to be confused with redsoil, of course), his pen gripped tightly in one hand as he stirs up the loose dirt with the other. It may not be glamourous work. His hands may be stained several different colors already. But he is determined to see it through. ]
The texture is much akin to loose clay… though there are prominent notes of iron as well. But it’s… missing something. But what…?
